My son is in the magnet program and absolutely loves it. He really misses it this year. All of his teachers have been fantastic.

I have had an amazing experience at Idlewild Elementary. Both my children are in the Magnet program and have had a good experience thus far. The school demonstrates rigor when it comes to academics and it has challenged both my children to grow as individuals. The staff and teachers are excellent and are not afraid to do what is best for each student. It was a true success to watch Idlewild receive the Dr. Ronald P. Simpson Distinguished Merit Award, the highest recognition given by Magnet Schools of America (MSA), this year and be named the nation's best magnet school. What I enjoyed the most about my journey at Idlewild is, its not just a school, its a family!

Idlewild is a wonderful school! Everything that Idlewild does is done in excellence. We've been a part of Idlewild for 3 years and we are so happy. My daughter is part of the Nationally Acclaimed Magnet program and I am continually amazed by the quality of education provided. The faculty and the staff are invested, encouraging and welcoming. My youngest child will be starting Kindergarten there next year and I couldn't be more pleased. I love the way the school blends the magnet program and the traditional neighborhood students perfectly. Students are well loved and challenged at Idlewild!

My five year old daughter is on week four of Kindergarten. So far IES is an epic disappointment. First the Magnet coordinator "overlooked" her for her placement. It took two visits to the school to get that fixed. No explanation, just an "I don't know, so sorry." Now after attending class for weeks and submitting medical records four times, I received a phone call from the school nurse that my daughter's immunizations are not up to date. Of course, this is two days before she will get kicked out of school. Not sure why it took four record copies to generate one phone call, nor do I understand why I did not receive a phone call after the first record was received. Sadly, I researched IES and was very happy when my daughter was accepted for the Magnet. Now, I am very concerned that I have made a terrible decision on behalf of my daughter. Truthfully, after dealing with the administration at the school, I would not entrust a house plant in their care, let alone the education of my daughter.
