As a parent of a special needs child, I always feel I need to review a schools credentials before enrolling my child and I find it very destrubing when I hear from friends in that area, that their special needs child are cleaning tolets and bathrooms instead of learning even the basic reading, writing, or math skills. My friend tells me that, her child comes homes at nights and cries becuase other students sees her in the hallways and ridicules her. After hearing this, my friend goes to the school to resolve the problem, the principal says it was a bad judgement call and that if she wants, the student can work in the office in lieu of cleaning duties. I think it is ridiculous that any school refuses to teach a child becuase he or she has special needs.

West brunswick is an excellent school to attend for the area. Yes, it has it's problems but every school does. It is improving every day and has changed a lot over the four years I have attended. There are some terrible teachers, yes, but the memorable teachers far outweigh. I have had teachers that have left an impact on my life forever. I just had a teacher say to me "I have no doubt that you will be successful. I honestly think you will go very far in life." I haven't had this teacher for two years. It shows they really do care about their students. To all the negative comments: WBHS is a family. We have dealt with many deaths of our peers in just my four years and each time the principal takes time to announce the death of a "family member" and we all come together and get through it. West has left an impact in my life and I will forever be a trojan. If you don't feel this way, maybe you should open your eyes to the beautiful things around you instead of narrowing your vision to just the negative aspects.
