Riverdale is one of Chicago's southernmost neighborhoods. While much of the area is used for industrial purposes, Riverdale does encompass several residential communities with a variety of humble homes. The neighborhood offers ample opportunity to spend time outdoors, with Golden Gate Park, Beaubien Forest Preserve, and Harborside International Golf Center all located nearby.

There is a wide range of residential complexes available. Eden Green occupies the west end of Altgeld Gardens and features newly renovated buildings and units. Between 130th Street and 132nd Street, larger complexes create a centralized neighborhood feel. Condominiums and buildings with fewer units that are south of 132nd Street offer more options that are within walking distance of Dubois Elementary School.

There are few local restaurants and convenience stores between 130th Street and 134th Street. Other restaurants located in surrounding neighborhoods deliver to this region and allow for a greater variety of options. Catered events at the venues on 130th Street are promoted throughout the community for larger celebrations. Golden Gate and other areas of Riverdale offer more diverse dining options as well.
