As far as the School in general it is the best one my children have attended. Now when it comes to Special Education this school fails 100%. What I have noticed is the children aren't really learning and just get passed from grade to grade just so that the teachers no longer have to deal with them. The teachers will complain and complain until the parent gets tired and either moves the child or contacts the board. As for Special Education in all RCSD, This entire system has failed our children deeply and it is extremely unfortunate to see many children with so much potential and talents go down the drain because this system drops children along the way. I would not recommend RCSD completely for any child. If you can move of the District completely DO IT!

My daughter been at this school since 3rd grade, she has behavior issues (odd) and this school has done nothing to help her. I have been pushing for help but they seem to think that she is just a bad kid even thou i have provided the school with medical documentation. I will put in the transfer to another school for 5th grade due to their prejudice of my daughters condition.

Why are the scores for this school so low? School 50 is of the district's magnet school for students learning English as a Second Language (ESL). In fact, ESL students make up more than 20% of the school's population, and are, by definition, not yet able to master the English-intensive NYS exams in Math, Science, Social Studies, and ELA. When you consider this fact, and the fact that #50 also houses several special education classrooms, it is no surprise that their overall scores are lower than the state average. While it is politically incorrect to do so, if you exclude ESL students and students with profound learning disabilities from testing statistics, the school is actually on par with state averages even though #50 is a high-poverty school. The truth is, this is one of the finest public schools in Rochester.
