Around Otterbein
Otterbein is a very small area, so you really don't have much in the way of "where to live" before you start moving out of Otterbein entirely and into the surrounding areas. The entire neighborhood is made up of only a few square blocks, which itself is comprised almost entirely of row homes. It's important to note that many of these row homes are actually historic and date back to the neighborhood's inception over 175 years ago. Perhaps the most famous street in the neighborhood is the Little Montgomery Street Historic District, which was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places and features 15 brick row homes that date back to the 19th century.
The perfect Sunday in Otterbein can usually be summed up in one single, beautiful, and delicious word: brunch. Because you're so close to the Inner Harbor, you'll absolutely have to stop by and check out Miss Shirley's - but be warned, you'll likely be waiting about 45 minutes for a table. You can also visit one of the many museums in the area for a quiet afternoon, like Geppi's Entertainment Museum located right next to Camden Yards. Geppi's is one of the only places in the country where you can see an actual copy of Action Comics #1 - the first appearance of Superman - with your own eyes.
A Friday night in Otterbein usually involves a trip over to the Inner Harbor or, beyond that, Harbor East. You can check out live music at Power Plant Live, go see a movie at the Landmark Theater in Harbor East, and, of course, take in an Orioles game at Camden Yards.
Living in Otterbein, one thing you can absolutely expect to see is sports fans. Whenever parking near the Orioles or Ravens stadiums fills up (as they are known to do), people usually start looking for overflow street parking in Otterbein and the surrounding neighborhoods. Because of this, if you don't have to move your car on a game day, you probably don't want to, lest you lose your spot until everyone clears out of the area for the evening. Otterbein is also a neighborhood bursting with color, with tree-lined streets and a quaint park in the northeastern part of the neighborhood.
The culinary scene in Otterbein is terrific - but primarily due to the fact that Otterbein is near other highly trafficked neighborhoods. Because Otterbein is so close to the Inner Harbor and other places like Federal Hill, you've got a wide range of different tastes and flavors to choose from depending on your needs. Local favorites Mi & Yu Noodle Bar, Byblos Lebanese, and Kona Grill are all within walking distance.
