Outstanding team they have put together in this community

I am a freshman at this school. I am more science focused in my courses, in honors biology and Envirothon. I would say the science department is fantastic, and I would recommend it to several people. Envirothon is perhaps the only extracurricular I would do, unless I am accepted into NHS. The library is fantastic, but not many people go. The librarian was wonderful to work with as long as you respected her. Personally, I do not agree with our school superintendent as some of his decisions are not wise, however he will (or the school will) learn soon enough. Great music department as well. Again, I love the science classes, and the math classes are fun (they should just have honors algebra I). Some of the teachers here really care, they want us to succeed. I went from a mid B to a mid A in my hardest class, honors biology, and thats because the teacher worked with me and helped me.

Most of the teachers in this school are nice as people, but I don't think some of them are a good fit as teacher material. The bullying problem in this school has not gotten better at all, as I've seen a friend get picked on by an entire class of about 100 students, then get written up for not being able to take the hateful comments and walking out of class so they walked out of class. The substitute teacher that was there at the time also did nothing to try to get the other students to stop yelling these comments. Nobody truly cares about their grades and how well they're doing unless it's parents pressuring them to do so and the students that are doing this willingly and getting these excellent grades belong in a much better place than at Bangor. There is either no consequence for actions or there is too much of a consequence for small actions. During the PSATs this past year many students, if not almost completely all of them, did worse on their tests because we were told they would supply us with calculators then when the day came they said we should have brought our own from home and that the few kids that owned them could use them. I just don't think even the teachers care about the students and the only thing going good in this school is the music department because of two amazing teachers that really deserve to be teaching at a better school.

My recent meetings have been excellent with the school administration. They have programs in place to allow each student to excel. The most recent program is Steven Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People to reinforce what students need to understand to improve.
