Central Columbia Middle School

Though there are some good people at the school, the overall experience is unpleasant at best. The teachers tell us what to review for the state tests, then do their own thing for the rest of the class. Once the tests are over, the students are forced to do silly and unnecessary assignment that don’t do anything for their future. And even still, little to no review on the Science PSSAs is actually done throughout the year, so students end up with low scores, making honors classes harder to get into. Students that seem or are unhappy aren’t supported by any teachers at all during the year, and instead the parent just gets some email about it. The school also does not seem to care for certain clubs/organizations (such as band or chorus), so instead students are forced to return from that time to do more pointless “review” for standardized tests, even though review for them is already done during class time. This includes websites such as Study Island and IXL. Overall, if you want your student to learn and succeed well later in life, don’t bring them to this school.
