Certain groups of students in the High School are openly racist and homophobic. Racial slurs are shouted in the hallways, as are general obscenities and homophobic slurs.More reasonable students and many of the faculty have complained to the administration with virtually no attempts being made on the part of the Admin to control the behavior. This behavior has worsened greatly in the past 3 years. Some students also complain about physical altercations because they don't conform to this ignorant and pathetic behavior. If you are a parent considering the Elizabethtown Area School District, please realize that learning has taken a back seat to a subset of students who openly harass gay, minority and any student considered "other" (note: not a straight white student). If you value an education, please realize that there are other school districts in the area that are safe, controlled, and otherwise competent, unlike EASD.

I feel like E-Town adequately deals with honors kids (though, admittedly, not by any means well), but it completely leaves behind the kids who struggle acedemically. There is not any spirit whatsoever here; there are not many kids at all who enjoy going here that I've met. That said, a lot (though not all) of the teachers are willing to go above and beyond for their students. The biggest problem here, I think, is administration.

Coming from an AP Scholar alum whose father was on the Board: the vast majority of resources are poured into underachieving students. If your kid is smart, they're going to hate it here. Send your kids to LCDS instead if they have any inkling of intellectual curiosity. That said, still better than Donegal

Also very upset with the teachers and counselor in the High School. They don't listen to what the parents have to say at all. They dismiss you like you don't know whats best for your own child! My child would ask the teacher for help and the teacher would give the same explaination and not come in on another angle to help- its like some teachers are droids. And the one guidance counselor my kids are stuck with does not return calls well at all, doesn't listen to the kids or the parents!
