Every year I point out how unfair these ratings are to the population that this school serves. To anyone relying on these ratings please understand the high percentage of English language learners at this school. The school is a great place of diversity and opportunity. The staff is fantastic. Please visit before judging.
The Greatschools.org site ratings are overlooking some fantastic schools who are doing wonders with the populations they serve. A good example is Reynolds Middle School which has stepped up to the plate to welcome refugees and add to the wonderful diversity of this school. My child has been very challenged in the honors program there as well and does exceedingly well on comparative standardized testing. Your poor ratings system undermines these hardworking schools by perpetuating prejudices against schools in urban settings such as the great city of Lancaster, PA. Parents, go visit the schools and ask questions before relying on this biased system.
