La Brum Gen J Harry Middle School

I went to this school in the late 70's, and it was a very good school. At the time they actually taught you wood shop and home economics. Unfortunately they no longer do that. Its a shame my daughter now goes to the school and finds it very boring, even though she is involved in many school activities. I would still rate it a good school. I heard that it is much better then a few years ago when they were busing kids in from other neighborhoods and their were a lot of fights and bullying going on.

Since becoming Upper Hancock on LaBrum campus it's become a completely different school. Mr Griffin & his staff run a tight shift which is so important when dealing middle school students. My 7th grader is being so prepared for High School in all academic fields. Teachers take time to help children if needed. Even with all the financial cuts the Philadelphia School District made this school continued to maintain programs that benefit the children. A++

The teacher are great and very caring. They have had to take on more responsibility and have done so amazingly.

I can't really rate this school yet because my nephew has only been there for a week but one thing i noticed is he takes the bus and the driver just drops him off and doesn't make sure he get's in the house or if anyone is home. The other school he came from was great about that. They would not drop him off until they saw someone. In this day and age it's scary .
