West Philadelphia High School

The administration cares and is proactive in responding to student needs. There are several incentive programs that are in place to motivate students.

I'm a substitute educator, and my ratings are based on my experience teaching the new West Philadelphia High school. The school has an overbearing control freak for a principal, that believe she can motivate the students by instilling fear of losing their cell phones and suspensions instead of utilizing positive reinforcement methods. She complained that I wasn't teaching the students, however if she bothered to sit in on the class for once she would see that I was teaching them with college level professionalism. You would be surprised at how much better students perform when they are doing academic work that is relevant and treated like responsible adults.

Comments and rankings are based on the OLD West Philly. If anyone has stats, comments, reviews on the NEW school please post them here. I need to find a well rounded school and this site has very old and outdated information.

As a big city public school it really needs the money. Has great program for building the cars of the future.
