After graduating high school going on 15 years ago... I've listened and witnessed other individuals' experiences at other schools... I'm a very humble person, but I have to say without any doubt my education was far better than anyone else's I know. The taxes in the North Allegheny School district area are quite expensive, but you can't put a price on such a valuable asset. If you're really considering moving to the area, and school district is a major deciding factor... Then think no more and pull the trigger! The education at NA is unparalleled.

I just recently graduated from North Allegheny in 2019 so I feel like I can provide a fresh view for any parent or person who is wondering. I spent from kindergarten to graduation at North Allegheny, and looking back on those years I really appreciate the time I spent there. A lot of these reviews claim that bullying and a division of students is a large problem. I do agree that there is a large group of wealthier kids who, at least in my class, formed a large strong clique and were generally viewed as mean and cut throat. I don't necessarily believe in the concept of kids being "popular" and "unpopular" but it's better to explain in those terms, sort of like a spectrum. I considered myself as being in the middle, as I was friends with people who were "popular" and people who weren't. Bottom line is that, in my opinion, you definitely have to have a thick skin to thrive at this school. I did witness a few instances of face-to-face bullying or kids threatening to fight each other, but never witnessed or heard about an in-school fight. NA does a really great job of educating students about bullying, how to report it, and generally how to handle a situation where themselves or a peer is being bullied. The main thing I witnessed was a lot of gossip. The higher you were on the popularity spectrum, the more of your business everyone else knew. Many many rumors were constantly being spread, which taught me not to believe them. I'm sure you'll find the same thing at every high school, but it was a big component of my experience.I've found that teachers were either a hit or miss. I had some really great ones and some really terrible ones. Most of my teachers were readily available to sit down with me outside of class if I ever needed help, and some even had designated time slots for students to come in and get help. That being said, receiving an education from NA greatly prepared me for college. The coursework is very rigorous and challenging, even at an academic course level (academic --> honors --> AP). The best way to make friends, I believe, is to participate in sports, clubs, or organizations. I was an auxiliary member in the marching band. I found that almost every person who participated in sports and recreational activities (clubs, theatre, etc.) ended up being best friends with all the other students in the same activity.I hope this helped!!

Overall an awful experience to go there as a student. If you fit in with the kids and are just like everyone else, you are fine. But if you are different from everyone else in terms of skin color, behave differently, etc. then expect to be heavily bullied. Don't expect teachers to stop them either. They will just watch and ignore it or in some cases, join the students in bullying them.

The most amazing school with the best teachers and administrators possible! The head principal is such a great guy!
