This borough's eastern border is formed by King Street, one of the city's most popular corridors for dining and nightlife, while the Medical University of South Carolina sits on the west end of Radcliffeborough. Quiet abodes are found in between these two hot spots. Condos and single-family homes alike can be found throughout Radcliffeborough, and there's really no bad location in this small, highly walkable neighborhood.
You can't go wrong for breakfast, lunch, or dinner in this neighborhood, but locals especially love Callie's Hot Little Biscuit for their delicious biscuits made by hand. Try the sausage, egg, and pimento cheese biscuit. For an even heartier meal, Halls Chophouse is an established favorite with some of the best steaks in town and live entertainment every night and during Sunday gospel brunch. Seafood, European cuisine, and Asian fare can also be enjoyed in the thriving culinary scene surrounding King Street.
You'll see tourist attractions, historic properties, and cultural landmarks in Radcliffeborough. This downtown neighborhood is positioned nicely for a good time of any kind, with King Street hosting much of the energy. The Medical University of South Carolina and College of Charleston are both near Radcliffeborough, so academia and college culture are very much a part of the neighborhood as well.
The high concentration of bars along King Street makes for a fun night out. Kick things off at The Darling Oyster Bar--their incredible cocktails pair well with the fresh seafood offered at their raw bar. Stop by Closed for Business for a great selection of craft beer or Prohibition for a trip back to the Jazz Age. If you've got a sweet tooth, grab a cone from Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, which is open late on Friday nights.
Walk over to the Charleston Museum or Aiken-Rhett House to learn about the city's history and view precious artifacts. Afterwards, take a stroll through Marion Square or hit up any of the amazing cafes in the area.
Homes in this borough can be fairly expensive, but the typical price point here is more affordable than markets further south on the peninsula. The neighborhood's modest, yet modern condominiums are good options for buyers with smaller budgets, while those looking for luxury can also find what they're looking for among Radcliffeborough's historic and modern estates.
Radcliffeborough is very walkable and fairly easy to traverse by bike as well. The neighborhood's public transportation options are a bit limited, but there are bus lines. CARTA (Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority) operates buses in the area for inexpensive rides around town. I-26 is the main road leading out of the peninsula toward Charleston International Airport.
