Around Ravenna

Overall, Ravenna is fairly quiet with the exception of NE 65th and NE 55th streets where most of the neighborhood’s best restaurants, bars and shops can be found. The closer you live on either of these main streets, the more noise and traffic you’ll encounter. Those who appreciate nature will want to live near Ravenna Park, which features lush trees and trails. Families will also appreciate the neighborhood’s top-rated public schools in the area.

The best eateries in Ravenna can be found on NE 65th Street. Closer to the west, you’ll find a variety of cuisines like Southern fare, Mediterranean bites, and a crepe and wine bar. On the east side, you’ll find a bakery and café known as Sunflour and Zouave Restaurant, which offers a selection of Italian, French and Mediterranean dishes. You’ll also find a few gems off NE 55th Street, including an oyster bar, champagne parlor, and coffee shop.

Ravenna is home to many upscale homes situated along tree-lined streets. There is a diverse culture here with families from all walks of life. You’ll find kids playing in their own front yards and neighbors getting staying active by walking down the wide sidewalks. What you won’t see here are big-box grocery stores or tourist stops. However, the shopping and entertainment center known as University Village is located just south of the neighborhood.

The neighborhood’s local bars and pubs are also located up and down NE 65th and NE 55th streets. Enjoy a meal of Southern-style bliss at June Baby right off NE 65th Street. Located east on the strip is the popular Counter at Old Ballard Catering, which serves everything from fried chicken to beef and lamb gyros. Located on NE 55th Street, Ebb & Co. is a unique establishment featuring a wine bar as well as cooking classes.

Start your day off with brunch at Greek-inspired Café Arta & Pub at Third Place. Choose from a nice variety of omelets, benedicts, breakfast sandwiches, and more. Then spend the day at Ravenna Park. The half-mile wooded ravine is a favorite sport for runners, and the park is popular with tennis players too. Families will appreciate the picnic areas located near the playground and wading pool.

Ravenna is located east of I-5, making it easy for residents to get to the freeway and drive across town. Transit riders can catch a Metro bus at one of the many stops found on NE 65th Street, 25th Avenue, NE 35th Avenue, and NE 55th Street. The Burke Gilman Trail is located in the southern part of the neighborhood, which is convenient for bike riders and joggers. Light rail transportation to Downtown Seattle will become an option soon.
