Around Riverside

This is a family focused area where children still play outside and neighbors still wave to each other. A significant amount of diversity is seen throughout the area, and everyone knows everyone. There are a lot of independent businesses, including hair salons, laundromats, and shops. Many people walk or take public transportation within this area of Tampa, providing an eco-friendly approach to life. Homes line almost all of the roads that make up Riverside, though there are a few basic shopping centers that offer everything that a person could need, including a few dollar stores to choose from.

Within Riverside, there is a limited number of restaurants to choose from. Many include the chain fast food restaurants, which are found on virtually every corner, making it easy to go through the drive-through and feed the family. There are a few independently owned BBQ restaurants as well as Latin American restaurants, which can provide phenomenal flavors to those who know about them. These are tucked right within the various neighborhoods, making it easy for many people to walk to from their homes.

Riverside offers some of the more affordable housing throughout Tampa. This includes single-family homes that have been built from the 1920s on. Most of these are found around the north end of Riverside, and there are also some townhouses available, particularly towards the south end. Many of these are quite centrally located, and while a little more expensive, also offer premium amenities. As for the sizes of homes, they are generally smaller than 2000 ft.², and don’t sit on a significant amount of property. Several different apartment communities are also scattered throughout Riverside, including along the River.

A perfect Sunday can be spent going down to Capaz Park, where there is playground equipment, being able to have a picnic with the family, and ballfields. Various Little League games may be taking place, which can be fun for all ages. It is also a great time to simply relax and enjoy getting to know the neighbors. Many people can be seen mowing their lawns, holding yard sales, and having some wind down time with the family. Visiting the Humane Society on Armenia Avenue can also be fun for the kids, where they can see a variety of different dogs and cats, many of which are available for adoption.

Spending the night with friends is possible throughout Riverside. Many people will go down to the edge of Hillsborough River to go fishing or just taken the views. The Marina Club of Tampa may also have a special event taking place. Often, people hold house parties where they invite friends over and pizza delivery cars can be seen making their way up and down the many streets within the neighborhood. There are also restaurants that may have a few “chef specials” for the night, encouraging people to come in and bring the family.
