Around Soundview
It’s all about priorities when it comes to choosing where to live in Soundview. If living close to the water is important, then opt for a home along Bronx River Avenue. If being close to the park is a higher preference, try looking near Lafayette Avenue. Homes in the neighborhood vary from brick rowhouses to standalone single-family houses. Mostly, housing comes in the form of low-level semi-detached row houses or mid-rise level apartment buildings.
Soundview Avenue and Westchester Avenue are both homes to many restaurants, making Soundview a decent place to dine out. One perk of its proximity to the water is the variety of fresh seafood offerings. There are a few Puerto Rican and Latin spots beloved by locals, as well, like The South of France or Sabrosura 2. There are also plenty of fast food chains located off of busy roads like Bruckner Boulevard for a quick bite.
While the neighborhood of Soundview is diverse, the buildings that make up the area generally stick to a drab exterior. Soundview Park is spacious with loads of recreational courts, but lacks real nature. The shining star when it comes to scenic views has to be Clason Point Park, a tiny greenspace at the southern tip of Soundview. Here, quiet benches overlook the water for beautiful sunset or sunrise views. There is also ample parking if the walk to this park is too robust.
As far as nightlife, Soundview has very limited options. Cross the Bronx River to dance the night away at Tequila & Mezcal, a nearby club. If you’re in the mood for something a little quieter, try watching a pickup basketball game at Soundview Park. Stop by Edison’s for great Dominican food, or take a walk along the water for a relaxing evening.
Start the morning off with breakfast at one of the local cafes offering classic American menu items like eggs, bacon, and coffee. After breakfast, explore the 205 acres of land that Soundview Park has to offer. Gorgeous views across Hunts Point into Manhattan make for optimal relaxation. Take a recreational ferry ride into the city and back, enjoying a snack from the ferry cafe.
The 4 subway line out of Soundview is a dream for those looking to commute into Manhattan or even southern parts of the Bronx. The Clason Point ferry stop is also an optimal commute route, if you’re not in a hurry. Driving is a popular choice for neighborhood residents. The drive to John F. Kennedy Airport is only 30 minutes via the Cross Island Parkway, and driving to LaGuardia takes around 20 minutes.
