Around South Delridge
Situated near Southwest Roxbury Street and Delridge Way Southwest is where you’ll see a small cluster of local shops and eateries. Living close to this area allows residents to be within walking distance of these amenities. Dog owners may enjoy living in the eastern part of the neighborhood close to Highland Park where they’ll find a few public parks such as Westcrest Dog Park, which offers an off-leash area. There are also walking trails, a playground, and a lookout platform with stellar views of the Seattle skyline.
The neighborhood’s concentration of restaurants is along the southern end of Delridge Way SW. Boss Drive-in is known for their plentiful hamburgers, shakes, and fries served with their famous “boss sauce.” Nearby White Center is home to a plethora of restaurants featuring a variety of international cuisines. Crawfish House, one of the area’s favorites serves Louisiana-style seafood in a relaxed atmosphere.
South Delridge is predominantly a residential neighborhood with few shops and local businesses. The neighborhood's quaint streets feature Rambler and Ranch style homes with manicured lawns. There are also a variety of modern townhomes as well as a few well-kept Mid-Century Modern homes tucked alongside Craftsman Bungalows. Throughout the neighborhood evergreens, field maple trees, and live oaks tower over the residential streets.
For a night of old-school fun, head to Southgate Roller Rink where you can enjoy a Friday night filled with live music and roller skating. If you’re looking for something more to do, head over to West Seattle where you can find more restaurants and chic bars. White Center is also known for its live music venues as well as laid-back lounges and bars serving delicious food and cold drinks.
Grab the fixings for a picnic at the West Seattle Farmers Market. This year-round Sunday market offers fresh locally grown produce and artisan foods. You can also spend the day at Lincoln Park, which is located along the Puget Sound in the nearby Fauntleroy neighborhood. This area features miles of hiking and biking trails, plenty of greenspace for picnics, a playground, and a public swimming pool with a bathhouse. At the south end of the beach, there is 300 feet of shoreline to launch small boats.
South Delridge is about eight miles southwest of Downtown Seattle. The King County Metro Bus Line 120 services Westwood Village to downtown with stops in South Delridge. Once downtown, riders can transfer to a number of buses that service the entire city. The Sound Transit Light Rail Link heads east to Capitol Hill, north to the University District, and south to Sea-Tac Airport. There are two light rail stations downtown, one in Chinatown and one in the Stadium District, also known as SoDo.
