About St. Edwards

The area around St. Edwards is one of the oldest and most fascinating neighborhoods in all of Austin. A major landmark in the neighborhood, Saint Edward's University, was built on a Spanish mission that was originally built on top of an extinct volcano. This area has seen cowboys, stagecoaches and bank robberies. During World War I there were even young men learning to fly biplanes as St. Edwards is the highest elevated natural plateau in the area. Geologically, historically, and culturally, St. Edwards is the heart of Austin.
