Best place we have ever lived...

David S
Despite the experience that is mentioned in other reviews, our experience in Starkey Ranch has been amazing. For the first time since I was a little kid, my family actually knows our neighbors well and our neighbors all know us. There are so many amazing parts of nature in our community that you just won't find elsewhere. We have regular visits from bald eagles, wild turkeys, river otters, and deer. Beautiful birds, hawks, owls and sand cranes call this place their home as well. We love that part, but frankly the feeling of community in the neighborhood is unrivaled. We have regular community events that are paid for by the CDD fees mentioned in other reviews. We have regular markets, parties and nature walks throughout the community that really make it feel like we are part of something bigger. The only areas I see as weaknesses are the lack of core amenities. The developers favored more walking and biking paths rather than large community amenity centers. There are less pools than some other communities, but most folks have pools in their backyard, so it's rarely crowded. Anyway... we love it here and wouldn't dream of leaving. I know our other neighbors generally feel the same... We love it here.

Not worth it

The CDD is high than most, you're forced to use Spectrum (Brighthouse) for communications, There are other neighborhood's in the area that have better builders, more communications provider options and lower or no CDD fees.

Avoid Pulte Homes

Chad B
Hi all. I would avoid Pulte with every effort. We are currently in the process of building with them. In addition to the pricing issues you mention, once they have your earnest money, they really treat you with indifference. I know there is always a degree of frustration with building a house, however, our experience has been like 5 months of dealing with a cheap, used car dealer. The house is getting ready for pre-dry wall inspection (was supposed to be first week of October), we have been dealing with large cracks in the block, they put one of the lag bolts through the main sewage drain in the foundation. They broke up the several feet of the foundation in that spot and then another few feet in an adjoining room for some reason. All of that during the middle of November, and nothing has changed since then. They have also not done anything about the construction folks smoking and just dropping the cigarette butts all over the house. In several places, the cigarette butts have almost caught fire and are leaving burn marks all over the flooring and framing. We have spoken numerous times to our Building Manager, and others above him. Nothing has been done. If any of you are interested in more details regarding a full list of the issues and actions, let me know. There are several builders in the subdivision, choose another. Building with Pulte is more heartache then it's worth.
