Locals can spend the afternoon in Perkerson Park, which offers 50 acres of greenspace, recreational fields, paths, a playground, and a popular splash pad, or the Westside Beltline Trail, providing a three-mile biking and walking path that connects the southwest Atlanta neighborhoods.

Although Sylvan Hills is a walkable community, many residents take advantage of the two transit stations located along Lee Street and the bus routes that connect the neighborhood with downtown Atlanta and nearby areas. Lakewood-Fort McPherson Transit Station and Oakland City Transit Station provide access to the MARTA red and gold lines and are a connecting hub for a handful of bus routes. I-85 borders the eastern side of the neighborhood, offering access to downtown Atlanta, and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is only about 10 minutes south.
