Worst Mistake Ever

Olivia L
Honestly, I'm not sure where to begin. I guess because there's so many negatives, I'll start with the one positive. Kevin, the president of the HOA, is an absolute standup guy. He's quick to get things resolved in a timely and friendly manner. He gave me his number to use if I ever needed anything and has had our back through all of the issues we've had thus far. Now, for our unit: The units are absolutely infested with vermin. Roaches, rats, spiders, everything you could imagine to make our first month here a living nightmare. The landlord has a hard time with English, and I was very happy to accommodate for the language barrier, but she's one of the rudest and hardest to deal with people I've ever met. The roach problem took weeks to get handled because she "didn't want to spend too much money" and quite frankly, she's very lucky my roommates and I are as nice as we are or it could have been grounds for a lawsuit. She tried pushing us out, saying WE were the ones who were the problem and that "it would be easier for everybody if" we found some place else to live, after we had signed the lease and finished moving our stuff in. They were nesting in our fridge, making it impossible to have food at the house for almost a month. We've started hearing scratching in the walls above our beds and are currently looking for a new place to go. The house was not ready to rent out when we moved in, and even two months in, I still believe some serious bombing needs to be done before the place is completely habitable. The deposit prices are astronomical, almost 3k. AND MAKE SURE TO READ THE FINE PRINT! These landlords are vultures! They keep part of your deposits to clean the place after you leave, even if you do everything right, you're still losing money! Save yourself the arguments, trouble, money and sanity. Just find someplace else.
