Where to Live
Tobin Hill is directly north of downtown San Antonio and is part of the Midtown District. For a grand and stately home, check out the Tobin Hill Historic District. There you will find 4,000 + square feet of Victorian and Neo-Classical mansions. If a mansion is not in your budget, the historic district does have Craftsman bungalows and condos as well. The neighborhood also has housing options in their arts and entertainment districts, providing a more casual and dynamic lifestyle.
Where to Eat
With so many great restaurants in the Tobin Hill neighborhood, you really don't need to venture far. From eclectic burger joints and ethnic cafes to fine dining with world-renown chefs, you'll find something to get excited about. And if you do decide to leave your "hood", downtown San Antonio and the Riverwalk are just steps away. At the Riverwalk you can experience outdoor dining at its finest at one of the many restaurants that line the San Antonio river. Or get some of the best Mexican food in town at one of the many long-standing family-owned Mexican restaurants in the downtown area.
What You'll See
You can expect to see a little bit of everything in Tobin Hill. The locals are as diverse as the homes they live in. With several universities nearby, you will also see many college students, giving the area a young, trendy vibe. Families flock here for the highly regarded schools in the area and the creative class love Tobin Hill's vibrant arts community. Tourists also flock to the area to visit the San Antonio Zoo or for a tour of Pearl Brewery. And with its extensive bike lanes and trails, expect to see cyclists about when the weather is nice.
Friday Night Fun
Spend your evening exploring the many outdoor cafes and nightclubs on North Main Avenue or North Saint Mary's Street. Or catch a show at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. With performances ranging from dance, opera, theater, and even comedy, you will find something to suit your mood. Bar-hopping Friday nights take place along North St. May's Street where there are sports bars, cocktail lounges, and live music venues.
The Perfect Sunday
Start your day right with breakfast at a diner along Broadway Street. If the weather is nice, go to the nearby Brackenridge Park for a game of golf or walk through San Antonio's Botanical Gardens. You can even hop on the bike trail along the San Antonio river, stopping along the way at a local brewery or historical building found in San Antonio's famous missions. If you have guests in from out of town, take them on a riverboat cruise through San Antonio's Riverwalk.
