As a current 8th grader at Carter, I can definitely say that I wouldn't pick any other school over it. There are a lot of wonderful staff at Carter, and although the new principal is despised by most students you can quickly overlook her and find all the amazing opportunities offered. They have amazing pap teachers ( Mrs.Seaberry & Mrs.Cooley love u both) who do so much for their students' success. Carters AVID and STEM programs are highly recommended and to anyone interested in art should check out the art club. Carter is also a decently racially diverse place and LGBTQ+ friendly school. I don't ever recall any negative opinions coming from a teacher in my 2 years of attending. And please rest assured that there are a lot of security protocols in place to help and protect you or your child. It also a very disabled child-friendly school. Even during the time I had just gone through a leg injury all of the staff were understanding. (allowing me to leave class 5 mins earlier to not accidentally get hurt by the crowd during the passing period, use the elevator, leave school early so that I could rest, giving me an entire week to recover, etc.) The teachers also took a lot of extra lengths to make sure make up work wasn't hell for me and took time out of their days to make sure I was caught up with everyone else and not left behind. I'm extremely grateful for them. Overall, Carter's a good school and I would recommend not to believe all the fake rumors and only speak about it once you have experienced the school for yourself.

Love Carter!!! The school has progressed so much since I went here. Mr. Lizardo and Ms. Parsons are so helpful and I'll be forever grateful for them. My child had some things going on and the school was completely understanding and did everything they could do get him back on track. Thank you to Ms. Pitt as well. SHE'S THE BEST!!!!

As a substitute, it is a decent place to sub at. When you look at the building at first, it may seem a little intimidating but once you go inside, just give it some time and you will be fine. The students seems to be knowing what they are doing and expected to finish their assignment when the sub is there. Sometimes, the class gets rowdy so they need to be reminded multiple times to stay on task. Some staffs are helpful, and some were weird. I like some students who appreciate the substitute and finish their assignments on time. There could be plenty of improvement by giving more restrictions on less cellphone usage and informing the students that they must be on their best behavior when the sub comes.
