Title 1 school + English language learners-lowest ranking school in the district; also ranks low compared to other surrounding districts. LTISD had a 7.8% special ed enrollment rate in 2016. Illegal cap on TX special ed 8.5%; national average special ed 13.5%. Talented & gifted program much improved. Experienced teachers are AWESOME! LTISD is much focused on sports, cheer, dance & struggles with TX dyslexia handbook; Student success initiative; Title 1 Part a Section 1118 parental involvement. School board will listen and make changes for improvement. Music dept has broadway style musical twice/ school year. School bond passed to improve LTISD playgrounds & replace school buses over 5 yrs old with new seatbelts. LTE Title 1 monies fund tutoring & schoolwide programs (not sure what else beyond "tutoring" & curriculum celebration nights; fun annual carnival fundraiser. Reading other comments, unresolved complaints can go to Superintendent and/or school board if not addressed by the Principal.

Terrible school. 3rd class education due to low-income school. Although there are some good teachers here....the principal is doing nothing to get rid of the bad ones. Lots of yelling (teachers to students) Reported a teacher for verbal abuse towards another child (my child witnessed) shortly afterwards, the teacher retaliated against my child by confronting her. Had to pull my child out of the class & move to another class. Teacher caught my child out in the hall alone and once again started giving my child a hard time by yelling. When we reported the incident to the principal = the teacher flat out denied it. I myself witnessed this same teacher yelling at a student (as I stood outside her classroom) Principal does nothing except "investigate" She is not strong enough to get rid of bad teachers. (She refuses to believe what the students & parents are experiencing)

I love this school.... The teachers and administration truly care about my children. My children love LTE and have learned and grown so much during their time there.
