People always say, "It's gotten so much better". I don't really know what that means, because this is my son's first year at OHMS. I don't know where it came from, but our son has had (and me and my husband) a great experience. Teachers, Administration and staff are awesome. Open door to anyone who wants to talk about struggles from academics to social and everywhere in between.

We've had a really great experience at O.Henry. -- The administrative leadership, teachers and staff are exceptional. They are continually implementing needed programs, addressing challenges head-on and ensuring equity for all. My children have been challenged in their courses taking all AP or advanced offerings as well as taking a variety of electives that has given them an opportunity to learn outside the box. In addition, there are many organizations and clubs available to join to give a greater learning experience. Athletics, fine arts, orchestra/band, dance & photojournalism are only some of the things my kids have enjoyed. There are also ample leadership opportunities from student council, the ambassadors program, leadership-in-training options and more. The middle school years can be challenging for students and parents, so I have been especially grateful for the guidance & community at O.Henry.

OHMS is a very inclusive Middle School. They have gone above and beyond to make sure that my daughter feels welcomed and is involved in extra-curricular activities, such as allowing for "C-Teams" so that all students have an opportunity to play a sport, even if they didn't make the A or B Team. The academic component has also challenged my daughter, but not over taxed her. She has learned all grade level curriculum and has been held accountable without being overly stressed. I would recommend OHMS to anyone considering a public middle school in Austin.

Both my sons attended O Henry Middle School and had a wonderful experience, especially with the band program, HEB Camp and NJHS.
