Horrible, they don't care about you're education and if you have a M.Illness then stay away from this school

Very good middle school. The teachers are experienced, knowledgeable and helpful. There's opportunity for great education and participation ( many clubs and Pre-AP classes). I haven't heard of drug problems, which is a plus! Addressing another parent's comment --Haven't seen any racism here. (We are Hispanic). If you are considering applying for STEAM instead of going to this zoned campus, don't worry if you don't get selected. (Don't fall for the hype). In my opinion, Hughes is actually the better school . They both have great teachers and programs, but Hughes is better in the end because there is no transportation back and forth, no crazy schedules, lockers, and an overall better school spirit. A good student will excel at either school, but would have a better middle school experience at Hughes.

Decent, but my daughter seems to think there are some secret racism issues. We never saw this as parents but we are keeping our eyes open and ears open. Other than that decent school. A new one needs to be built however.

My daughter is new to Hughes Middle School this year, and so far it has been a great experience. The school has a new principal who seems to care about the atmosphere of the school. He wants students, teachers and parents to enjoy Hughes. While the building might be old, the spirit of the school is energetic and engaging.
