How to avoid bullying? Don't go to Blalack Middle School. The bullying at this school is out of control. The way the school tries to handle it is by not allowing kids to talk, not even during lunch. I am sure this only bottles up anger even more. They are also way behind in all subjects. My daughter knew more than all of her peers and most of the teachers and my daughter was an average student from our last school. It appears there is a large turn over with teachers, which could be part of the problem. I don't recommend this school.

There are many good teachers at this school however the administration enacts asinine policies made to make their lives easier instead of policies that benefit the children. Children aren't allowed to talk at lunch. They are severely limited in the amount of bathroom breaks they're allowed to take. Young girls just getting used to having their monthly periods can easily go through their allotted bathroom breaks for the month in a single week. Administrators don't communicate with parents well especially on things concerning detentions. Your child simply won't show up to be picked up on time, leaving parents to freak out about where their child is. They also require children to buy a planner and a student ID every year, regardless of whether or not the child uses it or the family can afford it. While student IDs are necessary, the first one should be free, like they are at pretty much every other school in the district. I have lived in several different areas and have honestly never hated a school more.

A very open environment for students to learn. Caring teachers.
