Whitney M Young Jr Elementary School

As stated earlier in my review of this school, Pre-k thru 2nd, I would highly recommend this school, but when it comes to the upper levels (3rd-5th), the school has a lot of weaknesses. If some, not all, of the upper level teachers & leaders of the school could get along, (tension) wouldn't AFFECT the student's learning & growth environment, which it has, and their test score would probably improve significantly. In other words, do not let how you feel about one another spill over into the classroom and negatively impact the students. I'm sure most you went to college to have a positive impact in students' lives. I'm who I am today because of good, wholesome, old-school teachers and counselors who cared for my well-being. :)

This school is HORRIBLE. There are no consequences for the students. The teachers cannot handle the unruly students. The principal does not support the teachers. The principal does nothing when it comes to discipline. The students do not even respect his presence. The classrooms are over crowded. The school itself is dirty, and smelly. The heater or air conditioner does not work so student and teachers are either extremely cold or extremely hot. The kids do not get recess and half the time, the teachers do not get specials. The students and teachers feel as if they are in prison all day Bottom line, this school needs to be CLOSED DOWN. This is a waste of tax payers money...
