I rate this school poorly. My siblings and I graduated from Hightower, and it's so different from when we went to school. It makes me feel sad to know that our school is going down the hill. I've heard a lot of bad things happening inside doors of Hightower as things related to drugs, fights every week and teachers being careless. I tried contacting the teachers since the beginning of school and as of now i haven't had a respond from them. I am very disappointed and almost embarrassed to say i graduated from that school. I think the principals should have the teachers accountable of their teaching skills. I hope this would help before enrolling your children to this school.

As of recent, Hightower's academy entrance requirements have been increased. While getting into the school is still relatively simple if you put effort into it, the district now requires our students to get 25 volunteer hours a year independant of the yes program. Furthermore, both the medical science and media academy programs have been stripped of their best features like the EMT program and internship 2. DO NOT come to Hightower just for the internship program. Only ~40 students get accepted to the class. Also, the medsci program lost 3 of its 5 teachers, who have been replaced by inexperienced teachers who simply can't provide the same benefits. I wouldn't worry much about conduct issues here, since unless you're a part of it, it won't affect you. There are a few reasons to come to this school. First, the school has some great extracuricular programs like debate, decathalon and FBLA. Fbla in particular is unbeliveably easy to go to nationals for. Its also really esay to maintain your class rank here, but that only really help for qualifying for auto admissions to college. In summary:1. If you come here, you still have to work hard, just in different areas.2. You aren't guaranteed to get much out of the medsci program unless you actively try to.3. We send a lot of people to state and national competitions in fbla and debate4. We have minor behavior issues, but nothing major.

I am a freshman at hightower highschool and it's terrible so far. I didn't feel welcome at all. The hallways are crowded, people run around the whole school, and the students there dress so inaportpatly there. It's just awful there so far. Please here's a tip!: if your not zoned to hightower, then I suggest you don't go.

This school is horrible and undisciplined. The students do whatever they want in this school and teachers do a horrible job all the time. The students are always sagging and a large amount are covered in tattoos already. Very few scholarships are awarded to students here. The staff and principal are slow of alerting you of emergencies and many parents have a problem with this. The school is undisciplined and there are fights almost every week. And yes there are drugs in this school but that is a very low amount of idiotic students. I would NOT recommend this school to anyone.
