Blackland Prairie Elementary School

We love Blackland Prairie Elementary! This school has such a positive and loving atmosphere. I am so glad we moved here and we gave our children this opportunity. All the families we have met here are so nice and supportive of each other. People are friendly and kind. We love every minute of it!

I feel kind of meh about this school. They do a lot of cool things--an after school coding club, Pokemon club, etc. but I'm not all that impressed with the staff, the kids are treated downright rudely at lunch (they have to put their heads down and be silent when they are finished). They have to run laps if they forget homework or misbehave (um, isn't that illegal?). The playground is pathetic. Like...reallllly pathetic. Rusty old monkey bars and like one slide. My kids don't even know who the principal is (at their last school the principal knew all the children's names). It's just...okay.

Wonderful experience. Involved parents and staff. Programs in place for those children with academic challenges.

We have had at least one of our children here for 15 consecutive years. The administration works to foster a positive atmosphere but the classroom teachers are where the rubber meets the road -- we have only had two difficult years overall with 3 children and 16 combined years attended. I think this speaks well for the school.
