I have been attached to this campus is one fashion or another as a parent/grandparent for about 20 years. While the school (and the community) have been through many changes and our population is changing, some things do remain the same. This staff is top-notch. I am not going to rate the administration because they are motivated by different indicators, but the teaching staff and the staff that supports them is truly A+. I can say that the staff appears to be supportive of the administration. The PTA is here to raise funds to enhance student programs - so get behind them. This campus is safe, the population is extremely diversified, the parents try hard, and the faculty is committed to helping the students achieve. What else can you ask for? I financially support the PTA, but do not attend meetings. There are so many volunteer opportunities! I like the cafeteria, library, gym, and Field Day! Not having the privilege of being a in-house worker, I work every day and volunteer when I can. The best way to learn about a campus and how it runs is to spend time on it. Try it.

My son started in FCE as a kindergartener. He didn't last very long before we pulled him out to put him somewhere that actually valued academics over coloring pages of pigs proclaiming that, "Tattling is bad!" He was bored out of his mind and mandatory nap time didn't help. We returned for 1st grade and had an amazing teacher who was very enthusiastic and encouraging to the kids of all levels in her class. Also, the speech therapists are wonderful and sweet. Second grade just gave us more disappointment in the school and proved how awful the principal is. I had heard talk in the neighborhood but certain events made me believe it. They teach to the test and nothing more. If your child is eager to learn then this isn't the place. They will be treated as an annoyance while the focus is on remedial level children. We have since moved to a more challenging school where my son has flourished.

My daughter spent two years at FCE and now my kinder-gardener. Though I am not a big fan of the federal mandated curriculum changes, I respect and appreciate the staff and the administration. All our teachers have been available and willing to talk about any and all issues/problems/concerns we had for our children.
