When we moved to the area, we knew most of the schools ranked highly, so we chose a home we liked where it was convenient for us. What a wonderful and huge stroke of luck to be in the Galatas district! Two boys are now in school with a total of 6+ years combined - we have had tremendous, smart, organized and caring teachers. The Principal, first Ms. Lindsay and now Ms. Wilker (formerly the V.P.) do an excellent job and the addition of Ms. Mathis as V.P. was perfect. Teachers are very accessible, as are all department heads and, despite what others have said it is an incredibly warm, caring environment. Kids get to talk and interact a lot - even at lunch (saying they don't is ridiculous). Teachers are also very astute and contact the parents if they detect hearing, vision or speech problems and get assessments done quickly, if needed. The PTO is fantastic, academics are first rate and it's the closest to a private school education in a public school setting here. Plus, there's ALOT of school spirit and enthusiasm. I think Galatas is a terrific school.

I have had 3 kids go through Galatas and have had both Principles. I think it's one of the best elementary schools in The Woodlands. The principle (although new) is wonderful. My youngest needed extra help and they really worked with us to get the help she needed. I was always welcomed into the school and could reach anyone there anytime to talk about my concerns. The PTO is very active and I would suggest getting involved. It does make a difference in how you will see the school and the staff. After being at Galatas for 5 years I have made friends with many of the staff members. They really do care about the kids. My only complaint is not directed at the school but the district. The district puts a lot of pressure on the schools to do well on the test and are pushing every school in the area. If you think a school is teaching to the STAAR test welcome to CISD. The staff is doing the best job they can to not make this a focus but I can't imagine it's easy with the CISD putting on so much pressure. The Principle at Galatas handles this better than most of the schools in the area. I think both her and the VP are a great fit for the school!

My 3rd child is going thru Galatas now. This school has proven time and again to be a very well run school. Teachers and staff are caring and accommodating. The PTO provides lots of extras that add to what the teachers are teaching. There are lots of opportunities to be involved for parents. Negative reviews are coming from parents that probably don't involve themselves to better understand the staff. Too bad. The kids love it here, even coming back when in high school to volunteer for a number of things. Good teacher/student ratio with lots of qualified teachers. The school even provides tutoring to those students that need it so every child has a chance to succeed. Whether GT or special needs, every child has a chance to do well here.

SOOOOO disappointed in the school. I hoped to have better qualified staff. My son's teacher was new and had no idea what she was doing-J.Patchell
