Two stars overall. One star (because zero stars isn’t possible) for the lack of proper funding to the arts program. The music department and the art department deserve more funding than the athletic department gets, just saying. There’s a CLEAR difference in the treatment the departments are given. One star for giving Brian Sullivan the teacher of the year award in 2017. What a man. 10/10 deserves it again.

you get no respects by others unless you do sports, wear hollister or american eagle, barely any minority/ respect towards minorities. don't go here, don't come.

James Wood High School is by far the best school in the Northwestern District. As a graduate many years ago with parents and siblings who also graduated successfully I feel my opinion could be viewed as slightly bias. Overall, some of the reviews I read below seem very harsh and written by individuals who had bad social experiences during their time at this school. It's high school though none are perfect and have their social issues. During my time attending this high school there seemed to be a true sense of unity among the student body and that unity can also be seen today around town. The teachers and administrators of this fine school have always gone the extra mile to help in many circumstances that I've personally had the pleasure of witnessing. As a successful graduate who went on to the college of my choice, graduate with honors, and get hired immediately out of college I truly can contribute some of that success to this great school. I'll always have my colonel pride.

James Wood High School is very good. Most of the students are very good but there are some who aren't. But you find that in other high schools too. Most of the teachers are there for the students. They are willing to come in before school and stay after if you need help. The administrators and the teachers really want the students to graduate. I feel like James Wood is the county's best high school.
