I was really disgusted with how my family was treated. We were an Open Enrollment family. When I asked for my son to get on a Templeton bus that passed my house every day, I was told to call our resident district to get transportation. After calling the district and the bus companies that served my residential district, they informed me that the Hamilton School District only had to call them back to give the okay for my son to get picked up. The response, “We’ve never done that before, so...” That was it. My son did however feel very comfortable with Mrs. Fuller, the only teacher to try to tap into my son’s mathematics potential. When we did move to another district, we transferred to that school in the middle of my son’s 7th grade year. I called a few times before classes, but during office hours, asking what is required for the transfer. No calls were returned. I called during my lunch hour, the call was picked up, and I was asked if I received and filled out a “withdrawal” form. I let them know that I’d be there in a few minutes to do so, and to pick up my son’s belongings. The form was waiting for me when I got there. I filled it out as I was checked in without my ID (I had been there a few times before so it was already in the system). The principal retrieved my son’s gym items while I got his things from his general locker. The principal met me by my son’s locker and began tossing his things into the bags that I was using. As we walked back to the office, I asked, “Is there anything else to do?” The principal responded, “I don’t know, but let’s check with the ladies at the desk. We walked in and the principal asked, “Is that it!” The secretary said, “Yes, I think so. That’s it.” I said, “Okay?” The principal said, “Okay, bye!” and went back to his office. Very personal experience at this school (enter sarcasm).

I went to Templeton last year and I am now a freshman at Hamilton. I absolutely loved this school, but there were a few little things that I did not enjoy. I got really great houses all three years, so I had an overall amazing experience with teachers. Houses are basically groups of teachers you get assigned for each year, if you didn't know. The allied arts teachers were also very great, all except for a few of the gym teachers, who could have been a tad bit nicer. There were obviously certain teachers that could have done a lot of things better, but that was only a few. I was able to be in multiple enriched classes which I enjoyed. There actually wasn't very much bullying, but there were definitely social classes as far as popularity. I think there could have been more clubs and such, but that's just my opinion. The only staff that really annoyed me were the women that worked in the office. They were always very unfriendly, and never really answered your questions or helped you in any way. They also seemed to be annoyed if you even asked any questions. Overall, though, I very much enjoyed attending this school.

I'm happy with the principal and the teachers at TMS but I'm not happy with the staff at the office. They are unprofessional and unfriendly. I was there a couple of times, and there was one lady helping me. She didn't look happy to help me. My husband experienced the same thing when he went to drop off the gym uniform for my son. They didn't acknowledge him that he was there, they were talking to each other instead of working. I'm glad my son will not return to this school anymore that I don't have to deal with unprofessional and unfriendly staff.

My daughter has had wonderful teachers and learning experiences at Templeton. The advisement period has been a huge benefit! She has the opportunity to take enriched classes in 3 of 5 subject areas. There is a very supportive environment at the school. The band program is excellent!
