Awful! They complain of not having resources aka: the teachers want more money but yet they cant allocate or budget their money. Hence a new track field when it should go into curriculum!

My kids love being a Ram! However I do think the school has some work to do with administration but I'm confident we are headed in the right direction to address this.

My parents moved our family out of Racine in 1993 because they wanted us out of Racine Unified. I started going to Yorkville at the start of 4th grade. I was nervous all summer because of it being a new school & not knowing anyone. All my fears vanished the moment I stepped into Yorkville school. I had amazing teachers that truly cared about my education. In 6th grade I had Mr. Alexander as my math teacher, I hated math but he always managed to find a way to make it fun & made sure we all understood what he was teaching. Now Mr. Alexander is the principal at Yorkville and honestly they could not of found a better person to be there principal. He genuinely cares about the kids, parents and school. This is definitely the guy you want your kids looking up to as a leader and role model. Yorkville is an amazing school and I'm so happy my parents took me there. I graduated the class of 1999 & I'm proud to be from such an amazing school with even more amazing mentors. Thanks again Mr. A, you made a great impact on my life!

The school administration is not only unwelcoming to parent involvement, they actually discourage it. Staff/teachers may communicate to parents, but administration does not encourage a two way communication. I believe the current superintendent lacks confidence in his own abilities and therefore would rather keep parents out. Your child will get a very good education. However, Yorkville continues to increase enrollment for funding purposes driving their class sizes up. Nearby Gifford Elementary School class size is way higher and yet have better test scores. The only difference seems to be the administration and the lack of parent involvement at Yorkville to explain why test scores are lower at Yorkville. It's too bad, because if administration believed in parent involvement and supported it - Yorkville would flourish!
