Around Willow Bend

Though it is not included in any of Willow Bend's homeowner associations, the Gleneagles Country Club serves as the heart of the community for many Willow Bend residents. The club and its two golf courses run through the middle of Willow Bend, creating a beautiful green space at its center. The courses are routinely recognized by a number of golf organizations and local media as some of the best in the Dallas and Fort Worth area. Golfers are challenged by the pristine courses then relax at the casually elegant clubhouse, which features a restaurant and wine bar. The club's offerings off the fairways are equally impressive. Tennis at Gleneagles is a big deal, too. Led by a staff of veteran professionals, it's a very active program that includes 40 tennis teams, lessons for all skill levels, and charity tournaments. The community's sparkling pool is equipped with a large waterslide, cabanas, and a separate adult pool with poolside service, as well as a youth swim team and private swim lessons. The fitness center also has state-of-the-art equipment and a full menu of group classes and private training. Children in Willow Bend attend the Plano Independent School District. Its schools have received statewide and national recognition, including multiple National Blue Ribbon Awards. Schools in the immediate area are Brinker Elementary School, Huffman Elementary School, Renner Middle School, Plano West High School, and Shepton High School.

While golf, tennis, and aquatic activities dominate the local events calendar, there are a lot of other fun things to do throughout the year at Gleneagles. Some of the most popular events are family pool parties, theme nights, and nights out. There's a full schedule of holiday events as well, highlighted by a Fourth of July celebration featuring fireworks, gourmet barbecue, and craft beers.
For those wanting a quick excursion outside of the community, Plano has quite a bit to offer. Ziplining for the adventurous, tranquil forest preserves for nature lovers, and a number of museums for the curious are all less than 20 minutes away. Downtown Plano is quaint and ideal for antiquing or a casual meal with friends and family.
