There isn't much traffic in the area, except for families that live there, as this close-knit community doesn't support a lot of through traffic. Spacious yards are common play areas for young children all year long with the balmy, warm weather in this area. In the warm summer months, families are outside on lawns with children either playing in sprinklers or swimming pools to cool off.
A typical Friday night in this area includes neighbors that are outside enjoying block parties or barbecues with other families. This community is very friendly and the neighbors all seem to band together and enjoy each other's company. There aren't any sources of entertainment in the neighborhood, as it is mostly a housing area dotted with a few small convenience stores and coffee shops.
Many of the residents of Woodlawn Lake can be found at Woodlawn Lake Park on a Sunday. The neighborhood surrounds this lake, which is fed by two natural underground springs to supply cooling waters even in the hottest summer. Families can enjoy all of the green space, have a picnic, feed the ducks, or lounge in a covered shady pavilion. The park includes four tennis courts for the active members of the community and a softball field. The local gym is located here for the fitness buffs. The Woodlawn Lake community room sponsors reading programs for children, a teen club, and a Dare to Read Club for adults to join in. A health kiosk is in the community room and you can assess your heath with information on your heart rate, blood pressure, BMI, and weight. There is a large amount of playground equipment for your children to enjoy while you lounge on a blanket in the lush, green grass and observe the native wildlife or feed the ducks. This park also includes a large swimming pool to help you cool off in the summer. Active families often ride their bicycles to the park for a relaxing Sunday.
