La Jolla is the jewel of the green because it’s home to the gorgeous Torrey Pines Golf Course. This premier golf courses sits atop the coastal cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean and offers two championship 18-hole golf courses. Named after the Torrey Pine, the lush and rolling greens are dotted with these rare trees that are only found along the coastline in San Diego County and on Santa Rosa Island. The golf course is also known for hosting the annual PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open since 1968.

The golf course is owned by the city, and it’s reasonably priced for an otherwise luxury community. Residents can golf here for a discounted rate. Torrey Pines also has one of the largest on-site pro shops as well as advanced golf schools, which serve not only the pros but also the youth in the area.

Coronado - Coronado Golf Course

Although technically not a neighborhood, the tiny island of Coronado is popular for its beaches and upscale resorts, but it’s also a great place for golf. The city is home to the Coronado Golf Course, which opened in 1957 and has since been rated one of the best public golf courses in the nation. This 18-hole golf course has lavish manicured greens, wide fairways, and dramatic views of Downtown San Diego and the San Diego harbor. North Park - Balboa Park Golf Course

North Park is adjacent to the Balboa Park Golf Course, which is the oldest public golf course in San Diego. It offers a challenging par 72 course, a 9-hole executive golf course, a driving range, a pro shop, a coffee shop, a halfway house, and practice putting greens. It’s conveniently located just outside the city, making the golf course easily accessible to not only residents of the North Park neighborhood but to other communities as well such as University Heights, Golden Hill, and South Park

Pacific Beach - Mission Bay Golf Course

Pacific Beach is home to the Mission Bay Golf Course. This 18-hole executive golf course, designed by Ted Robison, sprawls across 46 acres within the city center. If you had a long day at work and want to get some drives in but the sun has already gone down, it’s not a problem here. Mission Bay Golf Course is the only golf course in San Diego that features night lighting, which allows golfers to play at night on a stadium-lit course.

This par 58 executive golf course is also famous because it’s where Tiger Woods won his Junior World title, making it a memorable place in golf history for locals and visitors. 

Point Loma - The Loma Club

Although Point Loma is a seaside community known for its lighthouses, this neighborhood is also popular among golfers. The Loma Club in Point Loma features a historic San Diego golf course that dates back to the early 1900s. Originally part of the San Diego Country Club, it’s now a local landmark. The 9-hole par 3 golf course features dramatic elevation changes which offer scenic views of Downtown San Diego and the harbor. The course features state-of-the-art fairways, greens, and practice facilities designed by renowned San Diego architect Cary Bickler. The Loma Club also has a bar and grill in the clubhouse as well as an additional 3,000 square feet of deck space and an outdoor bar.
