Needless to say, Hollywood is a famous neighborhood in Los Angeles. It’s not just a center of employment for many, it’s also a go-to destination when it comes to entertainment, nightlife, tourism, dining, and shopping. While Hollywood offers locals many amenities and perks, it’s also one of the most congested areas in the city, plagued by loud noise and traffic with few parking spots to spare.

However, there are many neighborhoods that offer residents both the convenience of being close to Hollywood, while also being far enough away to enjoy a tranquil, family-friendly atmosphere.

Here are five quiet neighborhoods that offer easy commutes to Hollywood.

Toluca Lake

Toluca Lake is a quaint and peaceful neighborhood located roughly six miles from Hollywood, which translates to a 15-minute drive in LA-speak. This upscale community is part of Los Angeles—though the neighborhood sits in the San Fernando Valley region.

Toluca Lake is situated near four major movie studios, including Universal Studios, Disney, and Warner Bros. This enclave is also known for being quiet, family-friendly, pet-friendly, and home to many of Hollywood’s elite, including celebrities such as Melissa McCarthy, Miley Cyrus, Steve Carell, Frank Sinatra, and many more.

The neighborhood is surrounded by lush trees, and it has a man-made lake filled with fish at the heart of the community. Homes in this neighborhood come in a variety of styles and sizes, ranging from the high $300s to over $5.7 million.

Hollywood Hills

Tucked in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains is the hillside neighborhood of Hollywood Hills. This scenic community is not just private, it’s also conveniently located above the Sunset Strip near West Hollywood. This affluent area is located approximately four miles from Hollywood, which is about a 15-minute drive.

Despite the similarity in names, these two neighborhoods are vastly different in terms of atmosphere and appearance. While Hollywood is dominated by buildings and businesses, Hollywood Hills offers residents several recreational areas and a rural vibe, despite being so close to the city. Homes in this neighborhood vary in styles and sizes depending on how high they’re located on the hills, with prices ranging from the low $400s to $8.5 million.

Valley Village

There are several reasons why people should move to Valley Village. This charming and historic residential neighborhood sits in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. It’s also conveniently located 20 minutes from Hollywood thanks to the neighborhood’s proximity to several freeways, including the 101, 5, 134, 118, and 405.

Valley Village offers residents quality schools, a close-knit community, several local parks, and plenty of places to run daily errands. Its location within the Valley is also central, and it’s less than 10 minutes from the booming North Hollywood Arts District. Homes in this neighborhood are mostly single-family residences or attached homes ranging from the low $300s to over $2.7 million.

Holmby Hills

For homebuyers who have a little extra to spend, head towards the peaceful and affluent neighborhood of Holmby Hills, located near Westwood. This neighborhood is on par with expensive communities such as Bel Air and Beverly Hills, and it’s home to some of the most expensive estates in the county.

Located about eight miles from Hollywood, Holmby Hills is only a 25-minute drive to Hollywood’s popular Walk of Fame. Homes in this neighborhood enjoy a fair amount of isolation, with plenty of trees and landscaping lining the main roads. Homes in this high-end community begin at over $14 million and go up to a whopping $175 million.

Griffith

Located towards LA’s northeast side is the recreation-filled neighborhood of Griffith, which is home to the beloved Griffith Park and Los Angeles Zoo. With so much going on in Griffith, from tourists at the Observatory to local events at The Greek Theatre, this neighborhood is surprisingly quiet and relaxing.

It’s also a short 20-minute drive to the restaurants and amenities of Hollywood. Residents living in Griffith find that there’s much to discover inside Griffith, from the Griffith Merry Go Round and golf courses to the hidden dog parks and railroads. Residents in this neighborhood can also enjoy a central location, near popular areas such as Los Feliz, Burbank, and of course—Hollywood.

Although there are homes in this neighborhood, the inventory is relatively low and situated more towards the outskirts of the community, with the median sale price of a single-family home at $1.3 million.
