Torrey Meadows Neighborhood Park has officially opened for the residents of Black Mountain Ranch, Rancho Penasquitos, and Torrey Highlands. After an $8 million investment, the 5.3-acre park, located at 13499 Torrey Meadows Drive, offers two children’s play areas, restrooms, a parking lot, a shade structure, a basketball court, and drought-tolerant landscaping.

“The Torrey Meadows Neighborhood Park is a welcomed addition to the neighborhood, with open space and features that people of all ages can enjoy,” Councilman Mark Kersey said.

As reported by the Times of San Diego, this is the 13th park to open under Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s 2016 pledge to improve or build 50 parks in the next five years.

“Every neighborhood deserves a great place for the community to gather for family barbecues, take an evening stroll, or play ball,” Mayor Faulconer said.

Currently, over a dozen other park projects are in progress. Completed park projects thus far include Civita Central Park in Mission Valley, Wightman Street Neighborhood Park in City Heights, and Old San Ysidro Fire Station Mini Park in San Ysidro.
