Los Angeles isn’t a city that offers much for free, especially when it comes to alcohol. However, in recent years, especially after dwindling sales from the recession, more and more local restaurants have opted to offer free corkage and BYOB options to boost traffic. The tactic was meant to get the casual wine consumer to eat out at a restaurant, but it ended up turning into something wildly popular with all kinds of patrons.

Now that the recession is over, many hotspots have changed their policies to limit these options, but there are still some prominent spots around LA’s Eastside that still have it.

Below is a list of 10 Eastside spots that offer either free corkage, BYOB, or both. Remember to practice proper BYOB etiquette when you’re bringing your own alcohol. First, call ahead to find out specific rules and fees, bring a bottle that’s not on the restaurant’s wine menu, offer a sip to the restaurant’s wine taster or sommelier, and don’t forget to leave a good tip!
