According to the San Diego Tribune, the new Brookfield San Diego communities in Chula Vista and San Marcos will be outfitted with Apple HomeKit technology. Homebuilder Brookfield Residential has partnered with Apple on the “connected home” upgrades.

Using their smartphone or a tablet app, homeowners will be able to control their lights, locks, temperature, and blinds using voice command. Despite being designed by Apple, the system will also be able to work with Android devices. Some commands can also be automated on a set schedule. The smart appliances also include a Ubiquiti Wireless Access Point for whole-home WiFi.

The smart homes can be found in the Flora, Prado, and Haciendas communities at Escaya in Chula Vista as well as Vientos, Candela, and Terracina at Rancho Tesoro in San Marcos. The properties range from single-family homes, condos, and townhomes and range from $400,000 up to $800,000. All of the standard smart features are included in the price.
