Irving and Las Colinas

Mandalay Canal Walk in Las Colinas, Irving

Irving is a major city in Dallas-Fort Worth, and a portion of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is located within the Irving city limits. According to 2016 population estimates from the United States Census Bureau, Irving is also the 13th most populated city in Texas.

Las Colinas is not only the premier neighborhood in Irving, it contains one of the largest concentrations of major corporations in the North Texas region and is a vital component in the Dallas-Fort Worth economy.

Once the largest mixed-use development in the Southwest, the 12,000-acre Las Colinas neighborhood was among the first master-planned communities in the United States. While mixed-use and master-planned communities are more en vogue across Dallas-Fort Worth now, Las Colinas was the regional pioneer, and it continues to be the prototype of what a live, work, play, and stay community on steroids should look like.

The business arena is a prime example. In addition to housing hundreds of companies and a a daytime population of 130,000, Las Colinas is home to five Fortune 500 headquarters, including Celanese, Commercial Metals Company, Exxon-Mobil, Fluor Corporation, and Kimberly-Clark. The neighborhood contains 26.5 million square feet of office space, over 1.3 million square feet of retail space, and the largest office park in North Texas.

Las Colinas is also one of the most sought-after communities to live in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, and several aspects of its lifestyle have captured national attention; it was ranked the most most diverse zip code in America (75038) in 2013.

Between about 100 restaurants, live music, and special events at Toyota Music Factory, the neighborhood offers plenty of places to hang out with friends or make new ones. But the scenic beauty of nature is never far away. Five pet-friendly parks range from the E.O. Perry Flower Clock with a dozen live oak trees, 900 dwarf hollies, and rotating seasonal colors to the Campion Trail with natural and urban views.

But nothing illustrates the vibe of the neighborhood more than the Mustangs of Las Colinas, the centerpiece at Williams Square. The life-size bronze sculpture of nine wild mustangs galloping through a granite-covered stream shows the bold unbridled strength and pure Texas grit that best describes Las Colinas.
