Charles Schwab recently announced plans to start building its newest campus in North Texas next month. The Westlake facility will staff up to 5,000 employees upon completion.

The initial phase of the Westlake development will include four buildings, encompassing 555,000 square feet of office space. It will also include a 2,600-car parking garage. The project will begin in July with an expected completion date of 2019.

The development marks Charles Schwab’s commitment to the North Texas market. The new regional facility will be larger than its Lone Tree, Colorado facility, which is currently its largest with 4,000 employees. Charles Schwab officials told the Dallas Business Journal that they are focusing all their future growth on the Dallas-Fort Worth campus.

Although the specific plans for future phases were not available, the company plans on employing 2,000 people in the first phase of development. The financial services company has enough developable land in Westlake to build enough room to employ up to 5,000 employees at this facility.

The new Charles Schwab regional campus will be located on 33 acres at the junction of State Highway 114 and State Highway 170. This high-profile location will be a part of a larger mixed-use development currently being built by Hillwood and Howard Hughes.

The Charles Schwab facility will include features for employees like hiking and biking trails, as well as other community amenities that will be part of the Hughes project.

Westlake is already home to a Fidelity Investments regional office, which employs 5,000 workers, and a Deloitte University training center that hosts 850 people. TD Ameritrade has a new campus just a few miles away in Southlake. The addition of Charles Schwab to this area will further add to the status of Westlake becoming a new financial services hub in North Texas.
