Earlier this month, Chicago was a contender for the Mars Wrigley Confectionary U.S. headquarters, but Mars Wrigley announced it has chosen New Jersey as the headquarters location, according to the Chicago Tribune

Mars Wrigley will create a new office in Newark, New Jersey. The decision also means more than 200 jobs will leave Chicago for Newark and existing Mars Wrigley offices in Hackettstown, New Jersey, according to the report. The jobs are expected to migrate to New Jersey by the summer of 2020.

If Mars Wrigley had selected Chicago for its U.S. headquarters, New Jersey would have lost 370 jobs to Chicago, according to the report.

The Mars Wrigley global headquarters will remain in Chicago. The candy company still had a strong presence in Illinois with five Chicago offices, five factories, and more than 2,400 employees, according to the report.
