Among projects approved was the 401-unit Riverwalk Residences of Las Olas, which will be downtown’s first luxury senior high-rise tower. The development includes 152 assisted living units, 57 memory care units, and 192 independent living units. It will replace a small office building at 333 N. New River Drive East, just east of the Third Avenue bridge, on the north side of the New River.

Also approved was Las Olas Walk, a 445-unit residential project on two blocks straddling Southeast Second Street and fronting the east side of South Federal Highway. The southern building, at 200 S. Federal Highway, will have 8 stories, with 127 residential units. The northern building, at 116 S. Federal Highway, will also rise 8 stories, and have 329 residential units.

The city also OK’d the 38-story 488 Residences at Riverwalk project at 488 SW First Ave. It will fill a now-vacant spot at the northeast corner of Southwest First Avenue and Southwest Fifth Street and feature 362 residential units, a 363-car garage, and 6,000 square feet of restaurant or retail space.
