Real estate agents in Los Angeles have long been known for doing whatever it takes to sell houses. One recent trend was creating high-production short films to grab the attention of potential buyers. The newest trend? Changing street names.

Per Curbed LA, real estate broker Jason Oppenheim did just that with a street located among the Birds Streets section of Hollywood Hills

What was once known to residents as Pinto Place will now be known as Hummingbird Place. After confusion about whether Pinto Place sounded more like either a bean or “an exploding car,” Oppenheim decided to alter the name in hopes of re-listing a hard-to-sell property as well as increase the area’s prestige.

Getting the street name changed was not easy. According to The Real Deal, the process took about a year and involved petitions, lawyers, and thousands of dollars spent mostly by the homeseller. The city approved the name change in late August.

In case you’re wondering, this section located north of the famous Sunset Strip is called Birds Streets because of all the avian street names there. The area’s more well-known streets include Oriole Drive, Blue Jay Way, and Nightingale Drive. This group of streets was once home to the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston, and Dr. Dre.

The property in question at 8818 Pinto Place already has approved plans for a six-bedroom residence designed by award-winning architect Dan Brunn. The $5,999,000 price tag hasn’t led to any bites so far, but perhaps a name change might be enough to entice prospective buyers who want to be considered among the Bird Streets crowd.

Ironically, Pinto Place was originally named for a bird, albeit an obscure one — Pinto's spinetail.
