Hollywood could soon feature 18 new small-lot homes at 6517-6533 West Lexington Ave. The proposal would replace an existing duplex and instead build an H-shaped project on the 26,700 square foot lot. Each unit would feature between three and four bedrooms, plus a two car garage, and rooftop decks.

Urbanize notes that while the city’s Central Area Planning Commission will consider an appeal on the ground of “incompatibility with the surrounding neighborhood,” the department’s staff report recommends the appeal be denied.

Small lot homes have risen in popularity in Los Angeles with space at a minimum and real estate prices continuing to rise. In 2015, there were questions on whether small-lot homes were beneficial or not, though there were clear advantages and disadvantages on both sides of the argument at that time.

Other recent small lot home developments are popping up near USC, Valley Village, Del Rey, Echo Park,  and elsewhere around LA.
