Houston made it on a list of the top global cities to raise a family, according to the Houston Chronicle. The city ranked 35 on the overall list, and second highest in affordability.

The German online real estate portal Homeday analyzed thousands of cities worldwide, evaluating them based on 15 beneficial factors identified by parents, including “infrastructure, maternity laws, healthcare quality, happiness levels, activities for children, and expert perception.”

Out of the top 20 best cities to raise a family, 13 are in Europe, with Copenhagen, Denmark topping the list. Only nine U.S. cities are featured in the top 100: Seattle (31), Boston (36), San Francisco (46), New York (47), Washington, D.C. (60), Chicago (68), Los Angeles (69), and Miami (73).

"Our real estate agents agree that the ultimate importance for most young families searching for real estate, is a location which is good for their family development," says Steffen Wicker, managing director of Homeday.
