According to Urbanize, the One South mixed-use development in Redondo Beach has completed vertical construction

Located at the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Prospect Avenue, One South (formerly SeaBreeze) sits on 1.4 acres and will include 52 condos and townhomes, with another 10,500 square feet of retail space. The complex will also add an underground parking structure and several rooftop decks.

Condos and townhomes will span from 869 square feet at the low end, to 1,945 square feet at the high end, with anywhere from one to three bedrooms, depending on the size of the unit.

One South represents one of the last mixed-use projects to rise in the South Redondo Beach area, following the wider city’s moratorium on mixed-use projects through late 2018. Proponents of the moratorium cited traffic issues and a changing community character as reasons for the stop on these builds. However, the rule largely applies to the southern part of Redondo Beach, which consists of more single-family homes.

The One South development was approved beforehand and was one of the main drivers for the moratorium (after the fact).

All of this is in contrast to North Redondo Beach, which has easier access to the Interstate 405 freeway and is more inland, is a mix of single-family homes and townhomes (with the latter becoming more prevalent by the day). The nearby South Bay Galleria mixed-use proposal would not fall under that moratorium as it’s in a commercial zone. Many of the city’s businesses exist in this area.

One South should be completed in 2018, with sales likely to begin for the 52 units prior to that.
